September Writing Progress, Part 2

This weekend was one of the most productive weekends I've had in a long time. On Friday, I knocked out over 3,000 words on a new story called "Kissing Death." It's my first foray into sci-fi, though the sci-fi element is minimal. There's horror as well. But the story is essentially about love. I reworked some of it on Saturday night and wrapped it up at about 3,500 words.

That was around 11pm.

After, I took at stab at doing a new one-hour writing challenge. This one was done on the honor system, but I managed to write the story in under an hour as required. 800 words. I then formatted it and posted it on the forum. I called it "Show and Tell." I think it's a nice little flash piece that I'll be able to redo at some point and submit around.

I also got deeper into the rewrite of "The Shadow on the Wall." It's amazing how much better I've gotten since I wrote that earlier this year. I was close to something then, but hadn't yet learned how to streamline everything. I think it'll be a rockin story when all is said and done.

Some of you might feel that a near 5,000-word weekend isn't much, but I assure you it's not as easy as it seems. Especially for someone like me, someone that gets distracted very easily.
